About

Hi, I'm Jules.
Thanks for stopping by!

Three years ago I would have described myself as an experienced and passionate athlete who worked in corporate marketing to fund her Ironman hobby! ha! I was always looking for the most productive ways to maximize my time, keep my body healthy and manage my outside relationships.  And if I do say so myself, I was pretty good at ‘doing it all’ — until I wasn’t…but we’ll get to that!

I grew up in Holland, Michigan and graduated from Hope College with a degree in Business.  After my hubby Paul graduated law school at Michigan State, we moved to Dallas, Texas and have been here for fifteen years. During this time I also worked as a personal trainer, group fitness & spin instructor and received several wellness certifications in nutrition and running.

It was in 2011 when I did my first big city race, the Chicago Marathon.  It was there I snagged a Boston Marathon qualifying time, (BQ). The experience at the 2013 Boston Marathon is one we’ll never forget — it changed me, my family and the running community forever. Running injuries kept me from returning the following year, I was heartbroken.

But God is always faithful and it was in 2014 that the Lord led me to Triathlon. Who knew he was doing such big work in me!?  I competed in my first full IRONMAN in Louisville in 2015 and was hooked – I went on to do many of the 70.3 and 140.6 distances over the next 5 years, capping it all off with my last race at the 70.3 IRONMAN World Championships in Nice, France.

I know once again God has a plan and purpose as I recover from burnout and walk through chronic disease today. As I walk through this journey I want to help others and share my experiences and Now, whenever I’m well enough you can find me run/walking (with our malti-poo, Otis!), writing or attempting to be a yogi.

Love, Jules
